I was born in The Croft Nursing Home, Buxton, Derbyshire in 1949, and was educated at Whaley Bridge County Primary School, New Mills Grammar School and Imperial College, London. I grew up in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire; today I live near Manchester, England with my wife Joanna. I retired in 2007 after 36 years working in IT at the University Library, Manchester. Brush Sulzer no 45014 THE CHESHIRE REGIMENT passes through New Mills on the 13th February 1981 with a Manchester Piccadilly to Harwich train. This locomotive was built at Crewe Works and entered service in December 1961. Withdrawn on the 10th March 1986, it was cut up later the same year at Vic Berry, Ashbury.
